Air India In Another Trouble: Flight Off For London Returns To Delhi Because Of ‘Unruly Passenger’

Due to the antics of a rowdy male passenger, an Air India flight from Delhi to London had to return to the capital.

What happened on the flight

An airline official claims that the passenger and the flight crew got into a brawl mid-flight on the AI 111, which carried 225 people. Regarding the occurrence, the national airline reported it to the Delhi Airport Police. The traveler was escorted from the aircraft and brought to the police station at the airport.

Air India issues official statement

“Air India flight AI 111 scheduled to operate Delhi-London Heathrow on April 10, 2023, returned to Delhi shortly after departure due to the serious unruly behavior of a passenger on board. Not heeding to verbal and written warnings, the passenger continued with unruly behavior including causing physical harm to two of the cabin crew members. The pilot in command decided to return to Delhi and the passenger was handed over to the security personnel upon landing,” the airline said in a statement.

“An FIR has also been lodged with the police. Safety, security, and dignity of all on board is important to us at Air India. We are providing all possible support to the affected crew members. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers and have rescheduled the flight to depart for London this afternoon,” the statement read.

This is not the first time that anything like this has happened

A passenger who was spotted smoking in the bathroom of the flight from London to Mumbai last month was arrested for disorderly conduct. For breaking the guidelines in the instance of the November urination, Air India was fined 30 lakh at the beginning of this year. On November 26, a passenger named Shankar Mishra is accused of peeing on an elderly woman who was intoxicated on a trip from New York to New Delhi.
