Bharat Jodo Yatra: Rahul Gandhi hoisted the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar

Bharat Jodo Yatra:  Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hoisted the Tricolor at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk today, 29 December 2023.

Rahul was to unfurl the Tricolor on 30 Jan

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took to Twitter to share that Rahul Gandhi was supposed to unfurl the tricolor on 30 January 2023 but was not permitted by the administration.

He tweeted, “. @RahulGandhi was supposed to unfurl the national flag on Jan 30th in the PCC office, since permission to do so elsewhere wasn’t given. Last evening, state administration allowed him to do so in Lal Chowk, but under the condition that it should be done today on the 29th at end of #BharatJodoYatra,” through his Twitter handle.

Earlier on Saturday, Rahul Gandhi was joined by the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti. It was a great experience walking with Rahul. Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi’s yatra comes like a breath of fresh air in Kashmir. It is the first time since 2019 that Kashmiris have come out of their homes in such massive numbers it. Was a great experience to walk with him”, through his Twitter handle.

Tight security arrangements were made in advance for the Bharat Jodo Yatra. All roads leading to the starting point of the yatra were sealed by the security forces.

It is worth mentioning that the Bharat Jodo Yatra of the Congress, which has been going on for the last 5 months, is to end on Monday. A public rally will be held at SK Stadium on 30 January 2023.

The closing ceremony is to be held at the SK Stadium in Srinagar. In this, 23 opposition political parties have been invited. MK Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United), Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, CPI(M), CPI, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), Kerala Congress, Farooq Abdullah-led Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti’s Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Shibu Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will attend the function in Srinagar. Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, and TDP are among the parties to skip the function.
