Bhopal Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has inaugurated the India International Science Festival (IISF), an annual flagship programme of the Union Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government. The event was organized at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) on Saturday.

During the event, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan lightened the ceremonial lamp in the presence of hundreds of scientists from across the country. ISRO Chairman S.K. Somanath, CMD of Bharat Biotech Krishna Ella with several other renowned scientists attended the event.

Ahead of the inauguration programme, Madhya Pradesh’s CM has welcomed the Union Minister of State in the Department of Space and Department of Atomic Energy, Jitendra Singh.

While addressing the event, CM Chouhan said that India has a scientific approach towards thinking, which comes from the roots of the country. India’s stance on technology has been far ahead of thousands of years ago.

The Indian International Science Festival is being held in Bhopal and it will help to develop the scientific attitude of the students of the state, he said.

Highlighting the success of Indian scientists during the pandemic, the chief minister said, “During the COVID-19 era, we did not even imagine that our indigenous vaccine would be made. Our scientists made two vaccines and they were also sent to foreign countries. More than 200 crore doses have been installed.”

The chief minister emphasized the achievements of Indian scientists in the sectors of space, technology, health etc.

The IISF has opened opportunities for 2,600 start-ups in Madhya Pradesh, said CM Chouhan.

“This event will help in understanding scientific concepts and attracting youth towards new trends in science. The effort should be that the students get inspiration and guidance from this event. India’s ancient scientific contribution and outlook should also be presented in the festival,” he added.

He also asserted that the achievements made by the youths of Madhya Pradesh in the field of Science should be publicized using social media. All science colleges, engineering colleges, polytechnics, ITIs etc. of the state should be linked virtually with the various activities to be held in the festival.
