Gabon Foreign Minister Michael Moussa Adamo passes away, countries condole demise

Michael Moussa Adamo, Gabon Foreign Minister passed away on Friday; the President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba, informed through his official Twitter handle.

Taking to Twitter President of Gabon tweeted, “Our Minister of Foreign Affairs, Michael Moussa Adamo, left today. He was a very great diplomat, a true statesman. For me, he was first of all a friend, loyal and faithful, on whom I could always count. This is a huge loss for #Gabon #RIP.”

Reportedly, Adamo, 62, passed away due to a heart attack during a cabinet meeting on Friday. His demise was condoled by India as well as the Maldives.

Countries condole demise

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed his grief over his demise, whom he called a “Friend of India”. He tweeted, “Shocked to hear about the demise of Foreign Minister of Gabon and friend of India, Michael Moussa Adamo. Condolences to his family and the Government of Gabon for this untimely loss”, through his Twitter handle.

The Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid expressed his deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. He tweeted, “Shocked and extremely saddened to hear of the untimely demise of my dear friend Michael Moussa Adamo, Foreign Minister of #Gabon. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. And to the Government of Gabon on this loss. I will miss his friendship and wise advice”, through his Twitter handle.

 

Michael Moussa Adamo’s journey

In 1961, Moussa  Adamo was born in northeastern town of Makokou. He began his career as a national broadcaster. He finally became chief of staff to Bongo as defence minister in 2000. He served as Bongo’s special adviser after the death of his father, Omar Bongo Ondimba, in 2009. Moussa Adamo served as Gabon’s ambassador to the United States from 2010 to 2020.
