Cold Waves: Several Suffers Heart Attack In UP; 25 Died

Cold Waves: In Uttar Pradesh, the cold waves has wreaked havoc in Kanpur district. Due to which the problem of heart diseases is increasing. Almost, 723 patients reached the heart institute of Kanpur for treatment. Ahead the cold waves, the health condition of more than 40 patients was found to be critical.

Several trains and flights were delayed. 21 flights were delayed in Delhi and 12 trains were running late in the Northern Railway region in the wake of heavy fog conditions. Two trains were rescheduled. Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s flight could not land in Agartala due to poor visibility due to thick fog in the region. Moreover, the northern region experienced an earthquake of magnitude 5.9.

‘Death Toll Due To Cold Wave Reaches 25’

Kanpur city is experiencing dense fog, icy winds leading to headache. On the other hand, the doctors of the Heart Institute said that out of 723 patients, 39 had to be operated on Thursday. Seven people died during treatment. According to statistics, till now the death toll of patients due to heart and brain attack has reached 25 in the entire city. Further, the doctors said 17 out of 25 patients could not even reach the emergency of cardiology.

Train and Flight Delayed Due To Heavy Fog

Due to extreme temperature dip in the north of the country, several passengers suffered trains and flights delay. While taking Twitter, news agency ANI informed about the delay of the train status.

Moreover, the temperature dip in the region, the India Meteorological Department has issuing a ‘yellow alert’; the Delhi airport alerted all its passengers. The airport said all fight operations are presently normal but “low visibility procedures are in progress”. Between Monday and Tuesday, around 100 flights were delayed and a few were diverted because of fog.

“Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information,” it added.

The IMD has warned of difficult driving conditions, vehicle collisions and tripping of power lines.

Several incidents of collisions and vehicle pile-ups have been reported in the recent cases, from the areas that witness dense fog in the northern recent.

The weather agency said North India may witness several flight cancellations and train delays in the wake of low visibility due to dense fog. Those planning journeys should check with railways, airlines, state transport and ferry service operators for journey schedules.

North India Experience An Earthquake

Ahead of the cold wave, an earthquake of magnitude 5.9 hit Afghanistan on Thursday. Tremors were felt in the Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi-NCR regions.

The quake with a magnitude of 5.9 occurred at around 7:55 pm in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, the National Centre of Seismology said in a tweet.

This was the second time in a week that a quake was felt in the national capital. On January 1, an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 jolted Delhi and surrounding areas at around 1:19 am. However, there were no reports of any injuries or damage.

“An earthquake of Magnitude 3.8 jolted the national capital and surrounding areas at around 1.19 am. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Haryana’s Jhajjar and its depth was 5 km below the ground,” the National Center for Seismology said in a statement.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) is the nodal agency of the Government of India for monitoring of earthquake activity in the country.
