This project starting at Mindspace junction to Shamshabad Airport will be 31 KM long & will be costing approximately ₹6,250 Cr.”

The minister further said that the project is completely funded by the state government. “This Airport Express Metro is a Telangana State government-funded project and will be completed in 3 years. We have submitted DPR and are in discussions with Govt of India for an additional 31 KM city Metro expansion, BHEL to Lakdikapul – 26 kms and Nagole to LB Nagar – 5 kms,”

We have submitted DPR & been in discussions with the Central government for an additional 31-km city Metro expansion; BHEL to Lakdikapul -26 KM & Nagole to LB Nagar – 5 km, he said.

The proposed Metrorail will contain both underground and elevated sections, in which around 2.5 kms of the total stretch is expected to be underground. The Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail (HAML) is expected to oversee the project.

It is expected that there will be 10 stations — Bio-Diversity junction, Nanakramguda, Narsingi, Telangana Police Academy, Rajendranangar, Shamshabad, Airport Cargo station and terminal. These are some of the stations.

The State government has already formed a special purpose vehicle- Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited (HAML) which would be responsible for development, construction, operations and management of the airport Metro link.

The GMR group, operating the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) here, had earlier said the group would invest about 10 per cent of the total cost of the metro rail link project being proposed by the Telangana government for connectivity to the aerodrome from various parts of the city.
