Heavy rain
Heavy rain battered sections of Bengaluru, causing heavy waterlogging on the city outskirts where the Kempegowda International Airport is situated, causing 14 flights to be diverted and several others to be delayed.
According to an airport official, the Strong crosswinds and heavy rain with thunder and lighting disrupted flight operations between 4.05 and 4.51 p.m.
“In total, 14 flights were diverted.” Twelve passengers were rerouted to Chennai, one to Coimbatore, and one to Hyderabad. There are seven Indigo flights, three Vistara flights, two Akasa Airlines flights, and one each of Go Air and Air India flights. Six departures were rescheduled”, officials said.
According to the PTI News agency, normal activities have resumed.
Areas near the airport and IT areas such as Varthur, Sarjapura, Whitefield, Marathalli, and Bellandur experienced heavy rain.
