Indian Navy Successfully Test-Fires Indigenous Medium Range Missile

The test firing validated the capability to engage the weapon as an anti-ship missile

Indian Navy successfully test-fires indigenous medium-range surface-to-air missile from INS Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.

An official said, “The test firing validated the capability to engage the weapon as an anti-ship missile”.

The MRSAM( Medium Range Surface To Air Missile) has been produced at state-run Bharat Dynamics Ltd.

Indian Navy official Twitter handle, SpokespersonNavy tweeted, ” #IndianNavy successfully undertook MRSAM firing from #INSVisakhapatnam validating capability to engage Anti Ship Missiles. MRSAM was jointly developed by @DRDO_India & #IAI, & produced at #BDL reflects #IndianNavy’s commitment to #AatmaNirbharBharat. @DefenceMinIndia @PMOIndia”.

This comes two days after a successful test-fire of BrahMos with a DRDO-designed booster and seeker.

The Navy carried out a successful strike of the ship-launched supersonic BrahMos missile in the Arabian sea on the 5th of March 2023. The missile clocks at a speed of 2.8 Mach.
