India’s Bid To Promote Kashmir As Most Desirable Destination For Filmmakers

When you look at Kashmir, you witness an eternal beauty like none other on the earth and via G20, the government tried everything to promote the territory not just for tourism but also as one-stop destination for filmmakers.

G20 in Srinagar was the biggest event that happened in the state turned territory of Kashmir in 21st century. The government and administration didn’t leave a single stone unturned to showcase the beauty of this paradise to grab millions of eyeballs that would eventually cater business in the tourism sector.

When you look at Kashmir, you witness an eternal beauty like none other on the earth and via G20, the government tried everything to promote the territory not just for tourism but also as one-stop destination for filmmakers.

Along with the valley, Srinagar’s Dal lake has been witness to ounces of romances in Indian cinema. From Shammi Kapoor to Shah Rukh Khan, every generation of Bollywood has chosen Kashmir to showcase love that’s as pure and intense as the beauty of the lake and the greens surrounding the valley.

“Almost 370 Bollywood films have been filmed in the Kashmir Valley and now with the OTT platforms, this number will see a sharp increase,” G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant stated.

“We are promoting Jammu and Kashmir so that foreign filmmakers also come here. We cannot become a world tourist destination without private investment. That’s why we want global and domestic investment. We are also encouraging 100% FDI under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including in the North Eastern states and hill states,” said Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy.

Lots of films were shot to capture the mesmerizing beauty of Kashmir but the trend almost faded in 1990s due to terrorism that ruined peace and prosperity of that soil. But after government’s sweated blood initiatives and operations to remake Kashmir for what it has always been known for, the result is relieving and praiseworthy.

G20 in Srinagar could not have been thought even 5-6 years before and this international-scale event has been nothing but successful in all terms.
