Mobile Phone Theft Gang Busted! Another Eight Phones Recovered From The Accused on IGI Airport Police Remand

The phones were stolen by pilfering the consignments when they were on the way from their warehouse situated at Rangpuri to Cargo Area, IGI Airport, New Delhi. 

The perpetrator

Delhi: A few days ago, police at IGI airport arrested three culprits and recovered 12 mobile phones, and eventually solved three cases of theft registered at IGI airport in January and February 2023. During the police custody remand of the main accused, the team further recovered eight mobile phones and solved one more E-FIR registered in February 2023.

Four E-FIRs were registered at IGI airport police station by Mr. Jaswant Singh in which the complainant alleged that a total of 25 mobile phones (Samsung Galaxy phones and iPhone 13 phones) have been stolen from the consignments which were bounded to be exported to Dubai.

The phones were stolen by pilfering the consignments when they were on the way from their warehouse situated at Rangpuri to Cargo Area, IGI Airport, New Delhi. 

Incident and investigation

The team constituted of IO/SI Yogender, SI Sudhir Joon, HC Mahender 199/A, and Ct. Kuldeep 313/A under the leadership of Inspector Yashpal Singh, SHO/IGI Airport, and overall supervision of ACP/IGIA Sh. Virender Mor was constituted and the stolen mobile phones were put on regular surveillance and they were continuously monitored. After a few days, a few of the mobile phones became active in Bareilly and the surrounding area and were traced. It was revealed that mobile phones were sold to different customers by one local operative of Bareilly namely Sher Singh.

Interrogation and operation

 

A Raid was conducted in Bareilly and Sher Singh was subsequently apprehended. He was interrogated and arrested in the present case. On sustained interrogation, he disclosed that he had purchased 17 brand new Samsung Galaxy mobile phones at throw-away prices from Arun Kumar and Pawan Kumar. He further disclosed that both Pawan Kumar and Arun Kumar used to purchase the stolen mobile phones from two drivers working at Anand Cargo Company. Later on, both accused in the case were also arrested, and 12 mobile phones were recovered.

Further during the course of the Investigation accused Sher Singh was taken on Police remand. During the remand, the accused were thoroughly interrogated and a raid was conducted at his residence in Bareilly.

Based on his instance 08 Mobile phones (05 Samsung M-33 and 03 Apple I Phone -13) were recovered. Further Investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to trace the remaining accused person and other beneficiaries and purchasers of the stolen goods.
