Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the G20 countries must have conviction, dedication, coordination, and teamwork to meet the problems of security threats in the digital economy and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
“As the digital economy grows around the globe, it will encounter difficulties and security threats. Building consensus on the G20 high-level principles for a secure, dependable, and resilient digital economy is crucial in this situation, Modi said in a virtual address.
We can provide a framework for the ethical and safe application of artificial intelligence (AI). We can create a whole ecosystem of technologically based solutions to deal with the problems that humanity faces. The four Cs — conviction, commitment, coordination, and collaboration — are all that are required of us.
According to the PM, the G20 also has a rare opportunity to advance financial inclusion and productivity by extending the use of digital public infrastructure to farmers, small enterprises, and the creation of a global ecosystem.
Modi welcomed the efforts of member-nations to create a G20 virtual Global Digital Public Infrastructure Repository and said it will “help create a transparent, accountable, and fair digital ecosystem for all”. He said, “I also welcome your efforts to develop a road map to facilitate cross-country comparison of digital skills and set up a virtual centre of excellence on digital skilling. These are important efforts to meet the needs of a workforce which is future-ready,” he said.
Modi said India has a lot to offer the G20 nations in terms of knowledge in creating Digital Public Infrastructure on account of the Digital India initiative of the government to achieve financial inclusion.
“India’s digital transformation over the last nine years is unprecedented,” he said.
According to Modi, “more than 1.3 billion people are covered by our special digital identity platform, Aadhaar.” According to him, almost 10 billion financial transactions take place through the UPI system each month, with India accounting for more than 45% of all real-time payments made worldwide.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that there was “absolute consensus on the concept and application of digital infrastructure” in a briefing that followed the meeting. We also reached a lot of agreement on cybersecurity, agreeing that this is a challenge that requires global cooperation. According to him, there was also agreement on the inclusive expansion of small enterprises in the digital economy.
