Pregnant Woman Airlifted To Srinagar
A pregnant woman was airlifted to Srinagar medical facility amid severe snowfall. According to the officials, the woman was in critical condition.
A western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from the night of January 18th. J&K Pregnant Woman Airlifted To Srinagar
On Sunday, Indian Army airlifted a pregnant woman in critical condition and a 10-month-old child from Jammu and Kashmir’s Karnah to Srinagar for better treatment as the National Highway 701 was cut off due to continuous snowfall for the last seven days.

Nusrat Begum, a resident of Chitrakoot was admitted at SDH Karnah as she developed labour pain with placenta previa on Saturday at 10 pm.
“Despite the efforts of specialists at SDH, Karnah, the threat to the life of the mother and unborn child could not be mitigated due to limited medical facilities available. As soon as the civil administration requested assistance, the Indian Army promptly responded to the call and several jawans willingly came forward to donate blood to save the patient’s life,” the PRO Defence, Srinagar, said in a statement.
Two units of blood were donated immediately to the ailing patient. An immediate requisition for evacuation by helicopter was raised to the higher headquarters. Army doctor from Tangdhar was immediately mobilized to assist the medical specialists at SDH Karnah, said the official.
The helipad was cleared of snow in a short period using JCBs to ensure early air evacuation. All efforts were made to evacuate the patient immediately but due to weather restrictions, the rescue operation could not be undertaken till Sunday morning.
“As a result of joint efforts of Indian Army and Indian Air force, Nusrat Begum and another 10-month-old infant were successfully air evacuated on Sunday,” the PRO said.

IMD On Cold Wave
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that northern states like Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are also likely to observe severe cold wave conditions till January 18, the IMD said, adding that Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir may see moderate rainfall or snowfall from January 18.
The national capital’s minimum temperature dipped to 4.7 degrees Celsius today. (IMD) has predicted a return of cold wave conditions in Delhi for the next three days. The minimum temperature is expected to settle down at 3 degrees Celsius in the national capital.

Further, a fall in minimum temperatures by about 2 degrees Celsius is very likely over many parts of Northwest and central India till January 17th and a gradual rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius from 18th to 20th January. Fall in minimum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius very likely over East India till 17th and gradual rise by 2-3 notches during 18th-20th Jan. No significant change in Gujarat.
