Amidst the ongoing clashes in Bihar’s Sasaram, almost five people were injured in a bomb blast as fresh violence erupted in the state on Saturday evening, said the police officials.

According to the officials, the injured people have been taken to a hospital, and a forensic team was rushed to the spot.

Speaking to the media, Sasaram DM Dharmendra Kumar said, “There was a bomb blast in Sasaram. Injured people were referred to BHU hospital. We’re investigating all the angles right now.”

Cause unknown

“The cause of the blast is still not known,” he said.

After receiving the information about the bomb blast incident in Sasaram of Rohtas, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team rushed to the spot of the incident to investigate the matter, the official said.

“The blast was reported at a shanty and a scooty has been recovered from the area. Prima facie it does not appear to be a communal incident,” the Bihar police said.

On Saturday, the police team, Special Task Force (STF) and Para Military forces conducted a flag march in Sasaram.

Taking notes from the incident, the locals said that communal tension within the state, after two groups clashed in two different regions in the state. This left three persons injured with bullet injuries.

Moreover, this bomb blast incident came just a day after communal clashes in the city on the occasion of Ram Navami. Similar incidents of violence were also reported from Bihar Sharif.

The Bihar police have so far arrested 45 people in connection with communal riots at Sasaram and Bihar Sharif that erupted during the Ram Navami festivities.

Vehicles, houses and shops were torched and several people were injured in communal violence reported in both towns. In Sasaram, the district administration ordered the imposition of Section 144 on Friday afternoon after the re-eruption of clashes, which first broke out the previous evening.
