Gallantry Award: Gallantry awards have been announced on the eve of the 74th Republic Day. This year 6 brave hearts will be honored with Kirti Chakra and 15 with Shaurya Chakra. Major Shubhang and Naik Jitendra Singh will be awarded Kirti Chakra for their bravery.

Major Shubhang of the Dogra Regiment has been awarded the Kirti Chakra for his gallant role in an operation in Budgam. Major Shubhang killed a terrorist during this operation. After this, he safely evacuated his fellow soldiers from there, he was also shot, but regardless of this, he kept on holding the front.

The terrorists were firing indiscriminately and in this firing, an officer and two soldiers of Major’s team were injured. Even after being shot in the shoulder, Major Shubhang did not lose courage and while displaying incomparable bravery killed a terrorist.

412 gallantry awards announced

Defense Ministry informed that President Draupadi Murmu has approved 412 gallantry awards and other defense decorations to the Armed Forces personnel on the eve of the 74th Republic Day. These include six Kirti Chakras including four posthumously and 15 Shaurya Chakras including two posthumously.

Brigadier Sanjay Mishra of Army Research and Referral Hospital was awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) on this 74th Republic Day. A total of 52 officers from the three services have been awarded the AVSM this year.

Indian Coast Guard Director General Virender Singh Pathania was awarded the Param Vishisht Seva Medal. A total of 29 serving and retired officers have been awarded PVSM this year for their distinguished services.

Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla has been awarded the Uttam Yudh Seva Medal (UYSM). 3 Corps Commander Lt Gen R.K. Tiwari and 14 Corps Chief Lt Gen A.K. Sengupta were also honored with UYSM.
