Today’s weather: New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted cold weather in Punjab, Haryana, northwest Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar on Friday.

In addition, the IMD forecasted dense to very dense fog over Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Tripura in the coming days.

Early this morning, dense fog was observed in parts of Bihar, Punjab, Chandigarh, northwest Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh. Some areas of Jammu division, Haryana, Delhi, and Tripura experienced moderate fog, while others experienced shallow fog.

Purnea had visibility of 25-50 metres. Patiala, Chandigarh, Ganganagar, Churu, and Bareilly had visibility of 50 metres each; Jammu, Amritsar, Hissar, Palam in Delhi, and Agartala had visibility of 200 metres each.

“Dense to Very Dense Fog conditions are likely to persist over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh over the next 48 hours, with a subsequent decrease in intensity and spread,” the IMD tweeted.

Today’s Weather In Himachal Pradesh

Shimla recorded 5 degrees Celsius at 5:30 a.m. today. Chamba 7.01 degrees Celsius, Kufri 4.71 degrees Celsius, and Una 6 degrees Celsius, according to the Met Department.

Delhi Weather Forecast

The New Delhi area recorded 8.4 degrees Celsius, Palam 8.8 degrees Celsius, Najafgarh 9.31 degrees Celsius, and Pitampura 9.91 degrees Celsius.

 Uttarakhand Forecast

Uttarakhand’s weather has remained dry. Today, dense fog was observed in several locations, including Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. At 5:30 a.m. today, Dehradun recorded 7.1 degrees Celsius, Mukteshwar 6.8 degrees Celsius, and Mussoorrie 8.21 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the Depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal remained nearly stationary. Over the last six hours it was centred at 0530 hours IST today, according to the IMD. The system is expected to move gradually west-southwestwards.  The Comorin Area across Sri Lanka over the next 48 hours, according to the weather service.
