Rahul Gandhi was criticized by Pragya Thakur, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for recent statements he made on foreign land, saying he must be thrown out of the country.
Gandhi recently sparked controversy while speaking to British parliamentarians in London when he said that functioning microphones in Parliament are often silenced by the Opposition. Gandhi gave a speech in the Grand Committee Room of the House of Commons building at a gathering hosted by veteran Labour Party opposition politician Virendra Sharma, who is of Indian descent.

According to the media reports, Thakur, a BJP firebrand MP from Bhopal, claimed Chanakya had said a “son born to a foreign woman can never be a patriot” and that “Rahul Gandhi had proved” the saying was true
“We have assumed you are not from India because your mother is from Italy,” Thakur said.

In response to a question regarding Gandhi’s allegations, the BJP MP stated that Congress was preventing Parliament from functioning. If Parliament runs smoothly, more work will get done. Yet if there is more work, Congress won’t be around long. The existence of they (Congress) is about to disappear. Their minds are also becoming corrupted now, according to Thakur.
“You (Rahul Gandhi) are a leader of this nation and were chosen by the citizens of this country, yet you are now insulting them. While sitting abroad, you (Rahul Gandhi) are saying you are not getting an opportunity to speak in Parliament. There is nothing more insulting than this. He should be expelled from the nation and not be given a chance in politics.

Congress replies to Pragya Thakur’s statements
Madhya Pradesh Congress media department chairperson KK Mishra retaliated against Thakur by reminding her that she was the main suspect in the Malegaon bomb case. Six people were killed and over 100 injured when an explosive device strapped to a motorcycle went off near a mosque in Malegaon, a communally sensitive town in north Maharashtra, on September 29, 2008. Thakur is out on bail in the case since 2017.
