Even a regular gym goer finds it challenging to execute 100 push-ups or more during the day, but an Australian guy set a new record by performing more than 3000 pushups in one hour.

The 33-year-old Australian from Brisbane named Lucas Helmke has broken the global record for the most push-ups performed in one hour, as reported by Guinness World Records.

Within one hour, Lucas completed 3,206 push-ups or an average of more than 53 per minute.

Daniel Scali, another Australian, set the prior record in April 2022 with 3,182.

Mr. Helmke tried this record in order to ‘inspire’ his one-year-old kid and ‘show him that nothing is impossible’.

Mr. Helmke put in approximately two to three years of training to beat this record. The formal attempt took place in his old powerlifting gym in Brisbane, Iron Underground.

Lucas divided the push-ups into 30-second sets, with the goal of completing 26 push-ups in each.

Mr.Helmke marginally exceeded this goal, accomplishing an average pace of 26.7 push-ups every 30 seconds, according to the record-keeping group.

Mr. Helmke had to keep the perfect form for each push-up or they wouldn’t go toward the record total.

The body must be kept straight throughout, with no bending at the knees or waist. The body must be lowered until the elbows form at least a 90-degree angle, then elevated until the arms are straight.

Lucas is not content with his Guinness World Records achievement; he intends to break at least one record every year from now on.

“This will be the first record I want to set apart from the rest of the push-up records. Then it’s on to other physical records”, Lucas explained.
