A Sister’s Support To Strengthen Brother: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra At Bharat Jodo Yatra

For the Madhya Pradesh part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by his sister and the party’s general secretary, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Robert Vadra, Priyanka’s husband, and their son Raihan also took part in the walk.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress’ general secretary, Priyanka, arrived in Indore on Wednesday and met Rahul early on Thursday. She was initially spotted taking part in the yatra while wearing a white salwar kameez and a brown puffer coat.

Posting a picture of the two, the Congress said on Twitter: “The steps will be strong, when we walk together.”

“With their joining, the Connect India campaign and our resolution will get a new energy,” added MP Congress Seva Dal.

On September 7, 2022, the Bharat Jodo Yatra left Kanyakumari. On Wednesday, it arrived in Madhya Pradesh from the neighbouring state of Maharashtra, and numerous Congress members waving the tricolour flag greeted Rahul.

According to sources, the 12-day yatra was officially launched by Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole handing the tricolour to his Madhya Pradesh counterpart Kamal Nath in the state’s capital. The yatra would go across Rajasthan for 380 miles after leaving the central state.

Senior members of the Congress, including former union ministers Suresh Pachouri and Arun Yadav as well as former chief minister Digvijaya Singh and leader of the opposition in the MP Assembly Govind Singh, were also present in addition to Kamal Nath.

Madhya Pradesh is set to go to polls next year and the Congress party is hoping that this yatra would provide a fillip to their preparations.

The yatra, a mass contact initiative of the Congress, will pass through western Madhya Pradesh’s Malwa-Nimar region, where the party had gained a convincing lead over the BJP in the 2018 Assembly polls and subsequently formed a government under Nath.

Gandhi’s Yatra is scheduled to enter Rajasthan on December 4 after covering 380-kms in Malwa-Nimar region of Madhya Pradesh during next 12-days.
