Argentina fans poured into the streets of Buenos Aires following their nail-biting penalty shootout victory in the 2022 World Cup final over France on Sunday.

Argentina won the World Cup for the third time under Lionel Messi’s captaincy after defeating France on penalties following a thrilling 3-3 stalemate in extra time. The game took place at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

“Absolutely fantastic! We prevailed despite the difficulties thanks to Messi” Santiago, 13, and his family gathered in front of the late football great Diego Maradona’s Buenos Aires home to celebrate the victory. Santiago, who coached the team in 1986, was a fan of football.

Within minutes of the victory, Argentines occupied the downtown area of Buenos Aires and other well-known locations while waving flags, caps, and the nation’s famous blue-and-white jerseys. Other festivities started happening all around the nation.

Argentinean resident Diego Aburgeily, 46, who was rooting for his country from a suburb of Buenos Aires remarked, “It was a great game, at times anguishing.” For the first time in years, this duo had people falling in love with them.

Since winning the World Cup in 1986, the South American squad that fell to Germany in the 2014 tournament final was without a title. But as the squad has grown, Argentina has seen a surge in fanatical devotion.

“We achieved this well-deserved win because to the unity between the squad, which is led by a player who performs at a level that makes him the greatest in the world, and the overall state of the players. Come on Argentina! ” said Ogden.
