Sunil Gavaskar told India Today, “Yes, that can happen. It appears doable. Gill will have a great opportunity if Gujarat chooses to bat first. Chennai will appear incapable of hitting 122 if they bat first and are all out for 180. Records are intended to be broken, though.
Gavaskar said, “And this is a record unlike Sachin Tendulkar’s run in Test cricket or Muttiah Muralitharan’s 800 Test wickets, those are the ones which will be very difficult to break.” He then contrasted the current record with Tendulkar’s Test runs and Muralidharan’s 800 wickets. However, 122 runs are the main focus here. If Gujarat bats first, that will undoubtedly occur.
