BIMSTEC Retreat was attended by Foreign Ministers of the member nations, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. The BIMSTEC has rotating chairmanship.

“Pleased to meet Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Momen. Discussed ongoing bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Also exchanged views on regional issues,” Jaishankar tweeted.

The discussions also encompassed sharing views on regional matters of relevance. Furthermore, Jaishankar's active participation in the BIMSTEC retreat further added value to his diplomatic engagements during his visit.

Over 1,300-km-long highways are currently in the making, and, once opened, they will boost the trade ties between Myanmar and Thailand, while also harnessing the potential in the travel and tourism space.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Wednesday met ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn in Indonesia, and suggested India-ASEAN dialogues in finance, cyber and maritime domains.
