Kwatra said that PM Modi and Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe discussed maritime connectivity. He said both countries are looking at connecting Nagapatnam in India with Kankasanthurai in Sri Lanka.

Speaking to the media after holding talks with Sri Lanka President Ranil Wickremesinghe, PM Modi said they agreed on enhancing air connectivity between the two countries.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that both India and Sri Lanka agreed to develop Trincomalee city in Sri Lanka as the regional hub during the talks as both sides laid emphasis on establishing high-grid connectivity between the two nations.

"Currently, the member countries of the BRICS are examining all these requests on one hand, but on the other hand, they are also currently discussing between them what should be the criteria of expansion of the BRICS membership, what should be the process and procedure relating to that.
