‘Dirty Dancing’ : Sequel in the offing, Jennifer Grey reveals all

‘Dirty Dancing’ star ‘Jennifer Grey’ revealed new details about the sequel to the  romantic original-dance-drama film. This has got fans extremely curious and excited.

The actress will be reprising her role as mentioned to Extra that she will be reprising her role as Frances Baby Houseman who will have aged and some other characters from the original will also be seen in the sequel.

In the original Baby (Jennifer Grey) and Johnny castle(Late Patrick Swayze)  are the main protagonists in the film while she is on vacation with her family at the Kellerman’s resort.

The sequel is eagerly awaited by all and the original is still a favorite as an all time musical romantic film and the song ‘I’ve had the time of my life’ is still etched in the hearts of people and is a favorite with lovebirds. The song won many awards including two grammies and a golden globe among others.

It’s been 35 years since Dirty Dancing released and it still enjoys a cult following. Swayze and Grey were even nominated for the Golden globe.

Filmmaker Jonathan Levine, is helming the sequel which has also been titled ‘Dirty Dancing’ and slated for a 2024 release according to LionsGate.

There is some reservation by the fans that how will the sequel pan out without the presence of Patrick Swayze. A new Johnny will be brought into the sequel which will be a major task for any actor for any actor worth his salt.

“And to the longtime ones, I promise we will not ruin your childhood. We will tackle the assignment with sophistication, ambition, and, above all, love.”

Filmmaker Levine said according to IndieWire.

It would be quite a different experience to see Baby quite a few years older and a lot of new characters. I am sure all fans including me will look forward to the 2022 Dirty Dancing sequel hoping once again to have a time of our lives.
