  1. After Imran Khan was brought before a bench on its orders, the Pakistani Supreme Court ruled that his arrest was “illegal” and ordered his immediate release.
  2. A three-member bench, consisting of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, and Justice Athar Minallah, issued the order to produce Khan, who is 70 years old.
  3. The manner in which Khan was taken into custody from the premises of the Islamabad High Court drew the bench’s ire.
  4. Bandia said that the Islamabad High Court to hear the case on Friday. ” The judge continued, “You will have to accept whatever the high court decides.”

  2. Bandial inquired about the procedure for obtaining an arrest warrant from the courthouse.
  3. Justice Minallah made the observation that Khan had actually entered the courthouse. Why should anyone be denied access to justice? He pressed.
  4. The court made the observation that no one could be arrested outside of the court without the registrar’s permission. The arrest was equivalent to denying a citizen’s right to access justice without fear or warning.
