Jetstar Makes An Emergency Landing
Japan: After receiving a bomb threat from an international caller, an airplane flown by budget carrier Jetstar made an emergency landing in central Japan early this morning.
Tokyo’s Narita airport received the call at 6:20 a.m. Japan time from a man in Germany saying in English that he had put a bomb on the aircraft, media reported.
The domestic flight from Narita to the southwestern city of Fukuoka was diverted to Chubu airport. All 136 passengers and six crew members aboard evacuated the aircraft there, the reported added.
No Explosives Found
Ahead of the landing, a police source said the man claimed to have placed 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of plastic explosives in the aircraft’s cargo hold and demanded to speak with the “manager” or he would set off them off.
No explosives have been found on board the plane, cited a media report. One person was slightly injured while leaving the aircraft which broadcast footage of passengers evacuating the plane via emergency chutes. Several pictures shared on the social media on Airbus A320, operated by Jetsar, with chutes deployed and passengers evacuated around the aircraft.
Domestic Flight Diverted To Chubu Airport
Ahead of the emergency landing, Chubu airport spokesperson said that a domestic flight bound for the southwestern city of Fukuoka was diverted to Chubu airport after receiving information about the bomb. All 136 passengers and the driver as well as six members were taken out safely. The Chubu airport spokesperson said the incident is being investigated and the airport has suspended flights.
Jetstar Airways has stakes in sister airlines Jetstar Asia Airways and Jetstar Japan. These flights are joint owned by Qantas, Japan Airlines and Tokyo Century Corporation.

Similar Bomb Threat in Moscow Flight Makes Emergency Landing In Delhi
A plane from Moscow carrying 400 people made an emergency landing in the national capital. An e-mail warning of bombs was received on Friday, according to officials.
The Aeroflot aircraft operating flight SU 232 landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi at 2.48 am.
The passengers and crew were evacuated safely said officials. Delhi Police said the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) received an e-mail warning of bombs on the flight on Thursday night.
386 passengers and 14 crew members onboard the flight were immediately evacuated, a senior police official said.
The flight was checked and nothing has been found so far. The aircraft has been isolated, the official informed.
