On Thursday, Russia accused the United States of being behind a drone strike on the Kremlin aimed to kill President Vladimir Putin.
In a press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the claim, saying that Washington should be aware that Russia knew it was selecting the targets and that Ukraine was simply carrying out US plans. He provided no evidence to back up his claim of US involvement.
Ukraine denied any involvement in the early-morning Wednesday incident which showed two flying objects approaching the Kremlin and one exploding with a blinding flare.
The Kremlin has stated that it reserves the right to retaliate, but has not specified how it will do so.
According to Peskov, Russia had numerous options, and the answer, when it came, will be well-weighed, and balanced.
He stated that an urgent investigation was underway, but did not specify when the results will be available.
