On Thursday, a US commander stated that Russian aircraft harassed US drones participating in operations against the Islamic State terrorist group in Syria for the second time in 24 hours.

Air Force Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich said in a statement that Moscow’s military aircraft engaged in unsafe and unprofessional behavior Thursday, 9:30 a.m. local time while interacting with US MQ-9 drones.

“The jets dropped flares in front of the drones and flew dangerously close, endangering the safety of all aircraft involved”, he claimed.

The day before, Grynkewich said that Russian jets dropped flares in front of US MQ-9s and that one pilot activated their plane’s afterburner in front of a drone.

The US claimed earlier this year that a Russian plane struck the propeller of a drone flying over the Black Sea, causing it to crash. Moscow denied responsibility.
