Police claimed three people were killed and six others were injured after a bus carrying people to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public event in Raipur collided with a stopped vehicle in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district on Friday.

According to Bilaspur Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh, the accident happened at Beltara village while the bus was traveling from Ambikapur to Raipur.

“Due to heavy rain, the bus driver first did not see the stationary truck parked on the roadside, and as a result, the bus smashed into it from the back side”, he claimed.

“Three people were killed in the accident, and six others were injured, two of them critically”, he added.

He named the deceased as Sajan (30), Rukdev (45), all Surajpur district residents, and bus driver Akram Raza (28), a Balrampur district resident.

He stated that two of the injured, Lilu Gupta, the BJP’s Latori unit mandal president in Surajpur, and Vishambhar Yadav, the party’s mandal general secretary in Surajpur, are in serious condition and have been transferred to a private hospital in Bilaspur.

He added four more people were hurt and were taken to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) in Bilspur.
