Geroge Soros, a matter of grave concern: S Jaishankar

Indian Foreign Minister also described George Soros as a “Rich old, opinionated as well as dangerous” person. Jaishankar said about Soros that “sitting in New York this man still thinks his views should determine how the international fraternity works”.

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar commented over the comments made by George Soros – “People like him think like that”.  Tearing into George Soros over his anti-India remarks the Indian Foreign Minister said, ”George Soros worries India”.

S Jaishankar calls the billionaire American investor opinionated and old still he finds him dangerous. Opining over the remark made by Soros over the Indian Prime Minister, he said that there was “a conversation and debate that the country must have on democracy”, including whose values defined democracy as the world became less Euro Atlantic and rebalanced.

George Soros ‘worries India’

The 92-year-old billionaire “worries us”, external affairs minister S. Jaishankar opined while describing the American billionaire as ”rich, old, opinionated and also dangerous”. Significantly the Indian Foreign Minister also compared the comment by George Soros with his “regime change” narratives of the past.

Georoge Soros was lately speaking at the Munich Security Conference where he had said PM Modi would have to face questions from international investors and in Parliament on the Adani controversy. Soros also said that this could help open the door to a “democratic revival” in India.

And this happens so when Jaishankar faced the same questions lately. At the Raisina@Sydney dialogue, the Indian Foreign Minister was asked on the comments about the “undermining of democracy in India, most recently in the context of the BBC”. He also replied to the questions over the remark by Geroge Soros on the Adani controversy.

The question on the BBC matter over the three-day tax searches at the broadcaster’s offices in Mumbain as well as in Delhi, was not replied by S Jaishankar. The External Affairs Minister spoke at length on the Hungarian-born American businessman. He also described him as a “Rich old, opinionated as well as dangerous” person. Jaishankar said about Soros that “sitting in New York this man still thinks his views should determine how the international fraternity works”.
