Telangana Village Sarpanch Sets Son-in-Law’s House Ablaze in Retaliation Against Love Marriage

Sarpanch from Telangana resorted to setting fire to his son-in-law’s house as an act of retaliation against his daughter’s love marriage.

A disturbing incident unfolded in Itikalapalli village, located in the Narsampet mandal of Warangal district, where a village sarpanch from Telangana resorted to setting fire to his son-in-law’s house as an act of retaliation against his daughter’s love marriage.

Mandala Ravinder, the sarpanch of Itikalapalli, vehemently opposed his daughter Kavya Sri’s relationship with Jalagam Ranjith, another resident of the village. Despite her father’s objections, Kavya Sri and Ranjith chose to elope and marry each other, having developed a deep bond during their college years.

Following their marriage, the couple sent a heartfelt video message to their respective families. In the message, Kavya Sri expressed her unwavering love for Ranjith and appealed to her family for understanding and forgiveness, acknowledging that their decision went against their wishes. She went on to caution that any attempts to separate them might push them to contemplate suicide.

Enraged by his daughter’s defiance, the sarpanch took drastic action by setting fire to Ranjith’s house and also targeting the residences of Ranjith’s friends who had supported their union.

Upon receiving a complaint from the victims, the police promptly registered a case and deployed officers to maintain order in the village, given the tense atmosphere caused by the incident.

A local resident provided an account of the incident, revealing that masked intruders arrived on five motorcycles at midnight, vandalized the house, and looted Rs. 50,000 in cash along with several gold ornaments before setting the property ablaze. The fire engulfed everything, including the cotton produce. Unfortunately, the perpetrators could not be identified due to the masks they wore
